She had traveled overseas with 14 others to serve the people in Cambodia. They had the opportunity to help out at an AIDS orphanage, visit an AIDS hospital, teach English and build friendships with the people in the villages. It was during this time that she was able to read and hear story after story of women and children being sold into prostitution, many times by their own family members. Her heart broke. Again and again and again. The stories burned into her mind and heart. She wondered, how much betrayal, hurt, and abuse can one take? What can I do to help these people gain what has been lost?
She spent the next two years traveling throughout Japan, Thailand, Hawaii, Cambodia and Korea with different groups—people who would become like family. They lived in community, shared visions and dreams, and found joy in each new surrounding. Every country held its own beauty and culture but behind hospitality and smiling faces, there was pain.
Now, a few years later, sitting in the place she calls home, she has not forgotten. The faces and stories of the friends she met throughout her years of traveling still fresh in her mind, she believes that not all is lost. She knows that she cannot do anything on her own, but she is determined to combine her love for fashion and her heart for injustice by partnering with others.
